MERIDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A house fire late Friday night displaced seven people in Meriden.
Fire crews responded to Randolph Avenue just before midnight. To access the hydrant, firefighters had to break the windows of a minivan.
City leaders remind residents that it's illegal to park closer than 10 feet from a hydrant in Connecticut.
Officials ruled the fire accidental. It was caused by a pillow sitting on top of an electric baseboard, which heated up and ignited.
No one was injured. The American Red Cross is helping those in need.
